HI Yvon, and welcome! I believe you better talk to Mike for the stove manufacturing training project, while I (Association Amis des Enfants) would be happy to share information about meals programs. In the Isnald of La Gonave AAE number of childrten has increased after the EQ and no significant aid has ever arrived, to my knoweldge. I am in Australia, from where we keep AAE functioning along with many other good people, but we talk daily with La Gonave and i will travel again in June. Welcome again for now :-) Orietta

Welcome Yvon, I'm the guy trying to get to Haiti to dissipate my knowledge about Effective Microorganisms(EM-1) and Biochar and Aquaponics, a way of life, that IS sustainable. So if you have any questions about their uses in agriculture, sanitation, aquaculture, cleaning of lakes, growing mushrooms, getting rid of bad odors and for making Biochar, I'm your contact stuck here in South Florida, willing to help from here and setting you on a road to discovering a whole new approach to Agriculture. We can rejuvenate farming in Haiti but let's do it right this time, without fertilizers. Hoping to one day get Pres. Martelly's attention to present my project which would be GOOD for all in Haiti and help make them Independant.

Hi Orietta, thanks for your warm welcome. Definitely I will talk to Mike about the stove Manufacturing training project because I'm very interested in. I'm working at Port-au-Prince for the NGO CFTC but I am very involved in community action in my home province Pestel. This is why I am enrolled in a business plan competition in order to find ways to help farmers to have a better lifestyle. If there anything I can do to help pleaselet me know.

Have a very good year Yvon.

My Bio-char maker is more for cooking and the 55gal drum version needs to find a 40 or 45gal. inner drum, which I cannot find ready-made. This has stalled me but for your oven I know there are plans on how to make one out of bricks that has the heat rising. Give me a few days and I will relocate the information and post it here. I have to get to bed now, my daughter has a big day tomorrow...

Yvon G'day mate,

Sorry I didn't get back to you, I actually had some work, and was busy, but I did find what I was looking for and that was the Adam Retort: http://biocharproject.org/charmasters-log/adam-retort-biochar-update-report/

Then if you look up Hugh Mclaughlin on Google, he has a lot of info on Biochar but I have not found actual plans. Another website with a lot of info and contacts is : http://www.biocoal.org/3.html .

Let me know if you actually find some plans as we would all be interested.

I think the Adam Retort would be best because instead of insulating the top of the Retort you could have your Oven on top of the steel plate that could be removable by having the steel plate on four bearings running on two metal tracks so that you could raise the tracks and push the Oven and steel plate(as one) aside so that you could fill the Retort with your biomass. Let me know what you think.

Hi Jean-Luc,

I was very busy, it's for that reason you didn't hear about me. Thanks for the information on  Mike's TLUD oven. I'm preparing some interesting propositions to submit to you and Mike. I found haiti reconstruction because I was searching for information about Morija (benzolive) because I'm participating in a business plan competition. My plan is about rural development in Pestel. Guess what, there were more than 600 participants, I'm in the last 75. That's take almost all my time besides my work. The site of the competition is www.memahaiti.org.

Hello Yvon, I am sorry it has taken me so long to talk to you.

I love your ambition and success in competition business plan with zolive!   I also have been very busy competing for a large award which could get our stove formation project going.  The TLUD stove is really better than any retort I have seen so far.  It is efficient, clean burning and makes biochar that is good to hold microorganisms.  For Haiti it will be perfect to start definite achievements toward conservation and sustainability.

I will keep you in mind if we can get our formation center going.  We love Haitians who take the initiative to want to start businesses.  We will need Haitians who are willing to put time into making our business not only income for yourself but one that can grow and create economy for the country.
