Teaching EM technology in schools

This should be happening in Haiti : http://www.flickr.com/photos/67022082@N07/6102238089

Does anyone know if Mains Unis have started their program in schools in Haiti?

EM Fears.

Just wanted to clear up a fear about EM that a lot of naturalists have and was again expressed by Alan.

EMRO does try to produce EM with local bacteria, in Haiti's case, it's Dominican Republic but you will be hard pressed to find the synergy of those three bacterium without pathogenic intrusions from the mulch already present in the forest around you, since there is very little pristine forests where the pathogens have not been unearthed and then, I ask you, why are you still…

Haiti should learn some lessons from what is happening in Japan...

How is knowledge about EM(Effective Microorganisms) uses and benefits progressing in Haiti? I haven't heard much, and wanted to stir the pot with this bit of Humble Pie ingredient :

Haiti needs me there to teach the ways and benefits of EM

Hello Jean

I just read your blog on Haiti Rewired and looked through the websites, I love them.  this is what we want on our pages also.  I will connect links to them from here, also beleive of utmost importance whenever you make compost is to make sure it will not wash away in the rainy season, most of Haiti is on hillsides and it all ends up in the ocean.

I am going to rewrite my Produce mor food page to incorporate more of you program as soon as I get time.  Thanks Mike

PS why don't you update your profile on our site and if you want I can make you an administrator and you can add pages and information easily on this site.

Hi Jean, sorry I have been so busy lately out side HR have many meetings tomorrow so may be few days, before I can update pages.  Will put some of your stuff under fertilizer page and renewed 3rd step Produce more food when finished.  Also will add a link to member pages.

I am not in Haiti now nor will be for quite some time yet.  Do have others there, I will see if I can find anyone interested in pushing for you USAID funding.

Thanks Mike

Hi Jean, sorry its taken so long to get back with you, I have added a page microorganisms and updated 3 produce more food page along with the biochar page.  If you would like I could make you an adminstator and alter or add to pages?  Thanks Mike

Hi Jean I made you an administrator so you can add and alter pages.  this is a pretty easy site to add links photos and documents from your computer or your web address.  Thanks for what you are doing I trust your expert advice.  To add subtabs look under My Network   If you would like to start a group discussion that would be great and also look for more members..   I hope we can find someone in Haiti to help also.  I will not be there until December but we have other members that are, Thanks so much.

Hi Jean, Our member Joel Ducasse is your best bet,  he is working under the WINNER project and wrote this last month

I am an agronomist and entrepreneur with activities conducted on a 30 year span in:

- field production (plantain, tobacco, sweet potato, papaya),

- hog and cattle production, meat processing,

- biotechnology (micropropagation of banana, sweet potato plantlets, biofertilizers and biopesticides production, production of inoculum for edible mushrooms).

Presently, I am in the process to establish an agri processing bio farm, on which I am also investing in a vetiver nursery to protect watersheds, and I will also offer a market for the vetiver leaves from some watersheds to pelletize and market them with a pellet stoves in the kind of the Peko Pe i will also produce. My established capacity will reach 1 million vetiver slips par week in the next 2 months. I am currently at one third of this capacity, with my main market in Gonaives and Ennery.

I hope Joel will help you, he seems to be the most capable of understanding the value of effective microornaisms living in Haiti. keep me in touch. Mike
